Early Global Methane™ Results
Methane emissions measurement on a regular frequency.
Précis
- Problem: Large methane emissions.
- Solution: See them before others do.
- Benefit: Avoid super emitter labels and shore up a defensible position.
Earlier this year, we released our Global Methane™ solution. This product was designed and deployed to provide customers with a tool to mitigate problems that will undoubtedly garner negative press as a result of coming third-party monitoring facilitated by the U.S. EPA’s new super emitter rules. Unlike watchdogs eager to report on super emitters, Satelytics will not work for regulators or non-governmental organizations. We work for industry. We don’t want our customers to feel they need to sleep with one eye open.
Global Methane™ Tuned to the Needs of Oil & Gas and Pipelines
- To protect operators, a monitoring solution must be employed frequently enough to find and remediate leaks before oversight from outside organizations.
- Satelytics sources imagery from several satellite constellations, resulting in up to seven analyses per month for select oil & gas basins and pipeline operational areas.
- Once the imagery is acquired, Satelytics’ algorithms analyze the imagery and produce actionable alerts within hours.
- The minimum detection level offered by Global Methane is 30 kg/hr under optimal conditions (80 kg/hr for more typical conditions). These results are validated by customer feedback and controlled release exercises. Plume concentrations as low as 350 ppmXm are measured with 20- to –30-meter spatial resolution. Every alert Global Methane provides includes the flow rate and concentration of the plume.
- We never delete any data. Thus, Satelytics facilitates a defensible historical record.
Mid-Year Results Summary
The pledged frequency of results has been verified by several Permian projects where alerts were delivered eleven times over a two-month period. Customer feedback tells us that this is sufficient information to proactively address large emissions and provide a defensible position based on measurement rather than estimates. The MDL has also been validated with operator flowrate verification of leak flow rates of 30 to 50 kg/hr detected regularly.
With 20- to 30-meter spatial resolution, the Global Methane alerts have effectively pointed field teams to the pads or sections of gathering line where leaks are occurring. However, the data is not physically accurate enough to identify specific pieces of equipment. This where our 3.7-meter, high-resolution methane algorithm provides superior functionality, offering quantification of flow rates as low as 1 kg/hr and plume concentrations as low as 150 ppmXm, while pinpointing the location.
An Inexpensive Insurance Policy
We offer a two-month trial of Global Methane to Permian operators and operators in select basins around the world (terms and conditions apply). Perhaps it is time for your company to purchase an insurance policy against the coming pressures induced by the U.S. EPA’s new super emitter third-party reporting rules.
